2024–2025 Academic Year Course Auditing

After careful consideration, Bowdoin has made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend course auditing for community members for the upcoming 2024–2025 academic year. The decision to suspend such a venerable tradition, even for one year, is not made lightly, and the College understands the impact it may have. The presence of auditors on campus enriches the community, and Bowdoin looks forward to resuming the program in the fall semester of 2025.

Several factors have influenced the decision, including:

  • the need to better support auditors on the essential technology and security requirements of the systems auditors must access for their courses;
  • the significant support from key offices involved in auditing to implement a new student administration platform, and
  • our commitment to improving the processes for enrolling in and auditing courses, making them clearer and more sustainable in the long run.
